WHAT IS THE MIDDLE HARBOUR MARINE WATCH ?

Middle Harbour Marine Watch (MHMW) is a specialised arm of the Neighbourhood Watch programme. The primary focus of Marine Watch is the security and protection of boats and associated property and the reduction of marine related crime. MHMW also supports safe boating, the preservation and amenity of the environment and the fostering of community spirit and friendship.

Middle Harbour Marine Watch has the support of the NSW MAC ( Sydney Water Police) and the NSW Maritime Authority and members operate in a manner to assist them to carry out their duties.

      MHMW Strategies are to
              •  Conduct frequent, random patrols to deter                   criminal activity.
              •  Promote reporting of incidents to Sydney                  WaterPolice and the Police Assistance                   Line.
              •  Seek to ensure dinghies are kept secured                  when left unattended on the waterfront.
              •  Encourage owners to use appropriate                  methods to mark property and install                  alarms.
